What We Believe

Welcome!

Grace Presbyterian Church exists to worship the Triune God, and to proclaim all His words, to all people, for the whole of life,

in the name of Jesus Christ.

Our Strategic Priorities:

We accomplish this mission (stated above) by…

Worshiping the Lord on His Day, alongside His people, empowered by His Holy Spirit, and according to His        commands with prayers, the preaching of the whole counsel of God, the singing of psalms and hymns, and the celebration of His sacraments, including weekly observance of the Lord's Supper.

Loving our neighbors and seeking to bless Alexandria (and all of Rapides Parish) by proclaiming the Gospel, practicing charity, and promoting goodness, truth, and beauty in all places.

Redeeming–by the Gospel–men, women, families, cities, and nations out of their slavery to sin and welcoming them into the salvation of the Lord Jesus.

Building strong biblical households that love God’s design for the family, and train up the next generation of faithful Christians.

Delighting in frequent fellowship and feasting together, where man-made barriers of fear and animosity are torn down.

Opposing the world, the flesh, and the devil, and beginning with the sin in our own hearts and households.

Our Distinctives:

We are Reformed and Confessional: We believe in the sovereignty of God over creation and salvation, along with the continuity of his covenant relationship with his people, established before the beginning of time. We trace our theological heritage to the Protestant Reformation of the 16th Century, which was a reinvigoration of the original, authentic, and biblical design of Christianity. Our theological positions are best stated in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

We Root our Preaching and Worship in the Bible:  We are glad inheritors of the Reformed and Historic “Regulative Principle of Worship,” and our preaching on the Lord’s Day is usually “verse-by-verse” through a book of the Bible, rather than isolated topics or seasonal themes. That said, we benefit from the traditional Christian Calendar, with its attention to the life of Christ and the mission of the Church through the year.

We are a Covenantal Community:  Our covenant-keeping God has bound himself with precious promises to us, his covenant people. We take vows of membership and so we keep our word to God and to each other. We love one another enough to practice fellowship and accountability. We are a Christian community, bound to God and to one another by the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are Governed by Elders:  We follow the New Testament model of the local church governed by a plurality of elders. Our body of Elders (often called “the Session”) are qualified men who are led by the Pastor (a fellow elder who shares equal authority with them). Our Elders are accountable t0 the Gulf South Presbytery and the General Assembly of our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (or EPC).
